The Science of Physics
Physics has to do with going into depth of the reasons why things work the way they do. It has a very strong math base to calculate many circumstances that would be impossible to perform as they are either in theory or hypothesis or the scope would be too hard to contain within a lab.
This is something that is crucial for many advance science study fields, obviously, so if you want to be an astronaut be sure to bone up on the subject. Less obvious to the casual observers is that those who wish to do any form of building, houses, skyscrapers, bridges..., you MUST have a background in Physics. The difference being between being a hard laborer and one who works in a cool office making the plans and a paycheck difference of at least $10,000 - 50,000 per year.
Granted, the average person will not be able to appreciate this form of study, especially if they do not have the math skills. Most will slide by without being aware of how it affects their lives.
If you ever plan to do any projects of building something around your home (a new deck, doghouse, roofing...) a base of Physics will mean the difference between doing a job correctly and having to pay thousands to a pro to fix your mess.
Since Physics is such a great topic with many avenues that cannot possible be covered on this site, I will leave you with the following resources.
